Week of Love

We hope everyone had an amazing Valentine's Day! The past week we talked about what Valentine's Day is and celebrated love. Thanks to all the parents who brought in all the yummy treats for our parties. The children had a blast handing out their cards to their friends. The children loved our love ducks and sparkly stones in the water table. There were hearts and love everywhere this week! I hope you felt it :)

Valentine's Day is also the day the one of my best friends and former teaching partners past away on. I wanted to share this with you as I think it is very important to remember and celebrate such a special person and amazing teacher. Laura excelled in making special cupcakes for all occasions and made the best felt board stories I have ever seen. Thinking about you always Laura. xoxoxo

Just had to share.....

I love watching the children as their eyes while listening to a story. Our listening center has been an amazing addition to our classroom.

Shadows and Groundhogs

This week we are talking about Groundhog Day. Within each theme there are so many opportunities to teach and explore. We started by creating our own groundhogs and then we talked about what Groundhog Day is. We discussed and how the groundhog looks for his shadow to see if it will still be winter. We then followed through by exploring our own shadows and explaining to the children that a shadow is when sunlight is blocked by an object. The children love watching their shadows.

The children took a vote and more of them think that Groundhog will see his shadow! I am hoping they are wrong so we can start Spring off sooner then later!!!
